Our Story
From vlog to national movement
What began in 2016 as a personal vlog on YouTube has grown into a nationally recognized nonprofit organization reaching thousands across the country.
Black Girl White Coat (BGWC) was founded to diversify the face of healthcare by uplifting students who have been historically excluded or overlooked. We provide the academic resources, mentorship, and scholarships that help Black women pursue — and thrive in — healthcare careers.
We understand the journey because we’ve lived it.
From pre-med to practice, we know the barriers students face and the support they deserve. That’s why BGWC creates programs, platforms, and opportunities that ensure every aspiring provider has the tools, guidance, and community needed to succeed.
We’re not just about the numbers, we’re changing the narrative.
